MHAM – 2010 Photo Contest

I entered a few photos in a contest held by Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff, MO. Every year at least one of my photos is some form of self portraiture , this year I entered two. Photo manipulation in Photoshop is not my strongest talent, but I’m always pleased with the surrealistic finished product. The other photos that I entered were: Painter Bill & We are Relentless. ”Painter Bill” is a composite of 3 images of a local sign painter. ”We are Relentless” is a team portrait for Relentless Media Productions, a creative media group that I work with.

Please check out my photos  ~Tim

Michael Franti & Spearhead in Memphis

This past weekend Jen and I went to see Michael Franti and Spearhead play a show in Memphis. The show was amazing! I have seen M. Franti and Spearhead twice in New Orleans, once in New York, and now this show in Memphis. In my humble opinion, they keep getting better, the show in Memphis was the best Franti show I’ve seen. He played at Bonnaroo the night before, and I was worried that he may be worn out. Worn out he was not, if anything he brought with him some of the energy from Bonnaroo.

As with every Franti show, once he is done playing he gets off stage and greets his fans with hugs. Having hugged Michael after every show I’ve seen, this time I settled for a high-five. This being Jen’s first time seeing Franti live, it was mandatory that she hug the man that just gave us a 3hr show. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a photo of Jen’s hug. But, I was able to snap a few photos during the show that I was very proud of. The photos came out great considering I did not have a press pass and was forced to take them from the crowd.

Below are a few of those photos. At the bottom of the post is a link to more.

Enjoy ~ Tim

Big Springs

This weekend Jen and I went to do a little exploring in our own backyard.
Well…kinda, we drove around trying to find some good camping spots.
Our first stop was Sam A. Baker State Park, cool place.
Then we drove to Clearwater Damn, another cool place.
Our last stop was at Big Springs in Van Buren, Missouri, coolest place.
I made a few photographs of the rushing water, and even one of my Jen.

Enjoy the photographs.

Invasion of Sicily

Last weekend, April 23-25, my brother (David), Matt Miller, and myself traveled to Bearclaw Paintball in Fayetteville, Tn to play scenario paintball. Well they played, I made a sacrifice and chose to spend the weekend making photographs and documenting the event. I’m very happy with the photos, but I don’t think I can do it again with out playing some. I’m going through major withdrawls from not playing last weekend. It didn’t bother me until I started looking through the images. Thankfully, there is another event at a closer field in a few weeks, I can’t wait. If you click the image below it will take you to a group of galleries of our weekend.

A cool patch that you receive along with the game map.

Bridge Shots

2 HDRs that I shot of a bridge out in the country.

Few Fair Shots

I was driving by a small fair and couldn’t resist stopping and taking a few long exposures.

Painter Bill

A little over a week ago, I was fortunate enough to cross paths with a local sign painter, named Bill.Painter Bill is without a doubt one of the most interesting people I have met, in southeastern Missouri.  Bill has worked many jobs in his life, but long before he started working any of those jobs Bill knew he loved to draw.  Since he was a very young boy people have appreciated his talent. Bill told me that his classmates in grade school would ask for his drawings, which he gladly shared. It has been over 70 years since Bill first gave away his first piece of art, and he is constantly producing more. During our 3 days of visiting, Bill showed me 5 pieces that he was currently working on. A portrait of a couple done with pencil & ink, two 3’x 10’ panoramas that he was doing of the downtown area of Poplar Bluff, along with a few rough concepts. Bill told me that he tried to get rich a few times throughout his life, but it just wasn’t in the cards for him. Although Bill wasn’t financially rich, he had a wealth of knowledge and experience that I could only begin to fathom. The stories of his life made the hours pass like minutes. He has done everything from farming, factory work, to gold leafing. When Painter Bill doesn’t have a brush or a pencil in his hands, he can be found searching for arrow heads in his “Secret” field where he claims to have had many of finds. I am thrilled that I had the opportunity to document Bill and his craft. Enjoy the Images.

18 Second Photo Shoot

A few weeks ago, I setup a 2nd camera in the corner, and documented the entire shoot.
